Fergal Boyle Leaving Certificate The Established Leaving Certificate is available in Coláiste Dún an Rí. The Leaving Certificate Established is a two-year programme that aims to provide learners with a broad, balanced education while also offering some specialisation towards a particular career option. Subjects are assessed by an examination paper and by additional assessment methods including oral and aural examinations, practical examinations, and assessment of practical coursework at the end of the two-year programme of study. Performance in the examination can be used for purposes of selection into employment, and into further and higher education. The Leaving Certificate is a strict academic programme which commences in 5th year. Leaving Certificate students need to be responsible for their own individual class work and commit themselves to a minimum of 2 ½ to 3 hours daily study. When you are considering which subjects to take for the Leaving Certificate, bear in mind that this decision will impact on certain university courses. To gain admission to certain courses requires a compulsory subject to be taken to Leaving Cert level and a prescribed minimum grade be achieved. This compulsory subject or subjects is required in addition to achieving the required points as set out in the CAO. In the CAO system, your highest 6 grades will be used to calculate your points for entry purposes to courses offered in all 42 Higher Education Institutes.
