On Thursday 24th August, Coláiste Dún an Rí welcomed an eager and excited group of new students through its front doors. There was an air of excitement around Kingscourt as the incoming first years started their life in secondary school with a trip to Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre in Cootehill, Co. Cavan. Students were greeted by teachers and after a brief introduction by Principal Mr. Fergal Boyle they departed for a fun filled day of team building activities. On arrival in Tanagh, students were split into two groups. One group would partake in a series of bog challenges that involved some serious communication skills and group work to prevent getting stuck in the bog. These activities involved the "Minefield" were students must navigate an area of the bog without standing in the wrong section. To finish off they each had to do the "Bog Run". The results can be seen below.

The second group went to a nearby river were they had to work together to build a raft. The raft had to be strong enough to hold the entire group on it without it falling apart. Each group passed with flying colours as all the rafts stayed intact. The groups then swapped over so  each group got a chance to partake in both sets of activities. Despite the weather being miserable it didn't dampen the spirits of these students who continued to integrate with their new classmates and engage in the activities to their utmost. To finish the evening students and their families were treated to a Barbecue in Tanagh.
