Coláiste Dún an Rí opened in August 2016 accepting students from primary schools which included St. Joseph’s NS Kingscourt, Cabra Central National School Kingscourt, Laragh National School Muff, St Patrick's NS Shercock, St. Joseph’s NS Corlea, Carrickleck NS Carrickleck, St. Bridgid’s NS Meath Hill, Ballynagearn NS Magheracloone and Drumgosset NS Magheracloone.

The school began its existance in temporary accommodation at Kingscourt Community Centre while awaiting the completion of the new school building on the Shercock Road at Turner’s Hill.

The philosophy of Coláiste Dún an Rí  is to provide a safe and secure learning environment where students are guided and encourage to excel both academically and socially as valued members of the school community. A key factor in this will be the development of a professional and committed staff but also the support and positivity of parents/guardians and the wider community. The core values of excellence, honesty and respect will permeate all aspects of school life and we will endeavour to live up to those values. For a student entering Coláiste Dún an Rí they can expect to receive a high quality education and reap the rewards of their hard work, collaboration and positive contribution to the school community.

Over the coming months and years, we aim to develop Coláiste Dún an Ri into a school community that the parents/guardians and students of Kingscourt can be proud of and be confident that the educational experience of young people can be enhanced and enriched.

Welcome to Coláiste Dún an Rí's website.

This year is a historic year for Kingscourt with the opening of Coláiste Dún an Rí as the town’s second level school. Coláiste Dún an Rí is a co-educational, all-ability school catering for students from Kingscourt and its hinterland.

The establishment of the school is a culmination of a decades long campaign and is a credit to the hard work of local individuals and the leadership of Mr Martin G. O’Brien, Chief Executive of Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.

The school will be initially located in a specially designated, fully equiped building to the rear of Kingscourt Community Centre. Construction has already begun on the new school building which has a total area of 6000 sq m. The new school which will be accessible from the Shercock road will have a capacity for 500 students and will be completed for September 2017.

I would like to thank all parents and students for their support to date and over the coming months and years we will work together to establish Coláiste Dún an Rí as a centre of educational excellence where students develop their learning abilities in a secure and engaging environment.
